What Women Put Up With is a series of fun health educational programs AND “how to” demonstrations on basic car and household maintenance. Memorial Hospital of South Bend, in conjunction with the Spirit of Women Organization, is pleased to offer these free programs to the women of our community.
When the Plumbing Leaks:
Have you seen the commercials that discuss embarrassing leaks? Has this happened to you? Would you like to know how to repair the leaky pipes? Many women of all ages experience urinary incontinence, and often find it a difficult topic to talk about. This program provides a comfortable and light-hearted environment to discuss the problem, and the variety of treatment options available to help. Plus, you’ll learn tips on common home repairs. Bring your girlfriends and your sense of humor!
Topics covered during this invaluable and fun program include:
- Perceptions of bladder incontinence
- Causes and symptoms of bladder incontinence
- The wide variety of available treatment options
- Complicating health factors associated with bladder leakage
- The benefits of partnering with your healthcare providers
- General plumbing and household repair demonstrations
The goals of this program are to assist you:
- To connect bladder control problems to your symptoms
- To name more treatment options after the program than you knew before the program
- To work in partnership with medical professionals as you make decisions as to the treatment options that are right for you
- To enhance your ability to perform common home repairs

The program instructors are a home repair specialist from Lowe’s and Kree McMullen, RN nurse educator at the Memorial Hospital Health Discovery Center.
