Pediatric Specialists
Hospitalists
Memorial Children's Hospital is proud to announce the addition of the Pediatric Hospitalist Program. A team of board certified pediatricians is available 24 hours a day to consult and/or assume care for any child in need of in-patient hospitalization. The hospitalist team also works in conjunction with the Pediatric Intensivists to provide Procedural Sedation for procedures that may generate pain or anxiety for the hospitalized child.
Intensivists
Memorial Children’s Hospital maintains a 9 bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) adjacent to the General Pediatric Floor. The PICU is managed exclusively by Board Certified Pediatric Intensivists, specializing in the care of the critically ill or injured infants and children. In addition to caring for the children within the PICU, the Memorial Intensivists direct the Pediatric Emergency Transport Services Team (PETS), provide Procedural Sedation services in conjunction with the Pediatric Hospitalists, and work closely with the area physicians and surgeons to ensure the on-going quality of care for the hospitalized child.
Developmental Pediatrics
The Developmental Pediatrics Clinic at Memorial Children's Hospital provides family-focused care for children at risk for developmental delay. Children with a range of clinical issues such as autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, Downs Syndrome, failure to thrive, undiagnosed developmental delay, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder will be thoroughly assessed and evaluated by experienced physicians and nurses. Working with the parents, the child's primary care physician and the schools, the clinical staff at Memorial's Developmental Pediatric Initiative will help maximize the child's potential for success. Collaboration and communication with the child's primary care physician will ensure coordinated care and medical follow-up for typical childhood illnesses.
