Interdisciplinary Professional Team
An interdisciplinary team of allied health professionals works together under the purview of a physician. Together the team assesses and treats each patient’s needs and goals. Team members confer regularly throughout the treatment program to assess how well the program is meeting patient, family, and team goals. Along with the patient and family, the interdisciplinary team can include any combination of the following professionals, depending on the unique therapeutic need(s) of each patient:
- Physiatrist (physician that specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation)
- Speech and language pathologist
- Occupational therapist
- Physical therapist
- Rehabilitation social worker
- Neuropsychologist
- Rehabilitation nurse
- Therapeutic recreation specialist
- Clergy
- Dietitian
- Driver rehabilitation specialist
- Orthotist/prosthetist
Professional Staff
The Center’s professional staff are all board certified, licensed, or registered in their specialty area. They receive yearly additional training and professional development in their respective specialty areas to stay abreast of current and emerging developments in their area of training and practice. Memorial’s rehabilitation staff have an average of eight years of clinical, hands-on experience.
