Hand Therapy
Therapists in our Hand Therapy program provide specialized care to persons with partial- or full-loss function in their hands and/or arms due to trauma, surgery, repetitive injuries or congenital abnormalities. Our therapists work with patients soon after injury or surgery in order to help them return to a productive lifestyle. The types of conditions we typically treat include:
- Arthritis
- Burns
- Carpal tunnel
- Fractures
- Repetitive motion injuries
- Scar management
- Tennis elbow
- Joint replacement
- Orthopedic traumas
- Sports injuries
We accept referrals from all physicians, and regularly see patients whose surgery has been performed by a physician from outside our area. Our Hand Therapy program is located at the Leighton Healthplex, 111 W. Jefferson, downtown South Bend, in a space specifically designed to meet the care needs of our patients.
Our Hand Therapy Department is staffed by a Full-Time Certified Hand Therapist, who has specialized training and extensive additional schooling above and beyond what is required to typically treat a patient in Hand Therapy.
