Memorial Opens New Facility for Vascular Disease Testing and Wound Care Services
Memorial will open a new facility dedicated for vascular disease testing and patient consultations as well as wound care services. This dedicated space, which opened as part of the Memorial Leighton Heart & Vascular Center on the hospital’s first floor, allows the vascular clinical team to meet one-on-one with patients about vascular disease. The facility features new ultrasound equipment needed in diagnosing vascular diseases, including aortic aneurysm, peripheral artery disease and carotid artery disease.
Patients meet with both the endovascular surgeon and vascular interventionalist on the same day. After meeting with the surgeons, patients leave Memorial with a treatment plan. It is a one-stop shop for vascular care, including consultation, testing and follow-up. Free vascular screenings for those at-risk for vascular disease will also take place in this new facility.
Memorial Wound Care Services occupies the other half of the new space. Patients receive state-of-the-art wound care from physical therapists specially trained to treat open wounds caused by trauma, circulation problems, infection, burns, diabetes and other diseases.
An open house will take place Wednesday, Nov. 30. Media who would like to interview Interventional Radiologist Dr. Gerard Duprat or Radiologist Dr. Michael Hall are welcome to attend the open house between 4 – 7 p.m.
Gerard Duprat, M.D., FRCP, one of the nation’s most highly regarded endovascular interventionalists, says streamlining the patient care experience into one day on the same campus allows patients to obtain quicker, more comprehensive treatment. “The sooner we can address a patient’s vascular disease with the proper treatment, the sooner the patient can recover and return to normal activities,” says Dr. Duprat.
