“Most people don’t know that 95% of people with AATD don’t even know they have it. AATD is a hereditary disease that can be misdiagnosed as COPD or asthma with minimal response to therapies,” said Tanya Abreu, President and National Program Director, Spirit of Women Hospital Network. “Since it is inherited, your parents, siblings, and children may also be at risk for the disorder, so everyone really should be tested.”
The Art of Living: One Breath at a Time is organized and hosted by Memorial Hospital, a member of the Spirit of Women Hospital Network, with support provided by Baxter Healthcare Corporation.
