Memorial Cancer Center’s 5th Annual Jazzed About Art Event
The Memorial Regional Cancer Center will hold it’s 5th annual Jazzed About Art fundraiser on Tuesday, May 8 from 5:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Trio’s Restaurant & Jazz Club. The evening, hosted by Mix 106’s Gene Walker, will feature music by Darryl Buchannan, and fine cuisine by Trio’s.
Highlighting the evening will be live and silent auctions of 30 museum-quality works of art donated by artists from Connecticut to Oklahoma to New Mexico. Noteworthy works by nationally known artists will be available, including pieces by: Al Capp, Richard Hunt, Jeanette Pasin Sloan, Robert Marx, and a set of eight Western bronzes by the Western artist Edwin Deming. Michiana favorites Harold Zisla, Rev. Anthony J. Lauck, CSC, Anthony Droege, Douglas Kinsey, and others have also contributed important examples of their work. Director Emeritus of The Snite Museum of Art, Dr. Dean A. Porter, considers many of the pieces to be of museum quality.
Underwritten by KeyBank, the auction will also feature special gift certificates by the finest local restaurants, golf outings, unique opportunities provided by Notre Dame’s football and athletic programs, exotic trips, and more.
Proceeds from the auction will be used to help fund Memorial Regional Cancer Center’s complementary services. These services include massage therapy, acupuncture and Yoga, and are provided free of charge. While they have medical, spiritual, physical and social benefits for patients, such programs are generally not covered by insurance. Complementary care continues long after a patient has been released from Memorial, one of the Top 100 Hospitals in the country.
