Going for the Gold

Radiation Oncology

The wonderful staff in Radiation Oncology works to honor each step in their patients’ progress. For example, when patients complete their radiation/chemotherapy treatment, the unit has a celebration with them. This year, they also honored their patients’ unflagging courage through Olympic Day, held during the running of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Together with Team Members across the Memorial Health System, Radiation Oncology decorated the unit with Olympic-themed memorabilia and hung an inspirational “Play Like a Champion” sign above the door. Team Member Katie Shively explained that, “Olympic Day was created to honor the patients we take care of, and to let them know we recognize the effort they put forth each day.”

Radiation Oncology ensures that all patients feel encouraged, respected and celebrated throughout their battle against cancer. To Radiation Oncology, all of their patients are champions.
