Child & Adolescent Services
Emotional and behavioral problems affect even the youngest members of our community. Providing children and adolescents with the best possible emotional and behavioral care is critical to the development and growth in their young lives. The
Inpatient Children & Adolescent Services Division of Memorial Epworth Center is a knowledgeable and compassionate resource for families to trust during difficult periods. Our facility includes a child unit, age 6-12, and an adolescent unit, age 13-18. Our safe environment along the banks of the St. Joseph River is designed to nurture and support the well-being of every child.
A thorough evaluation of every child is performed upon admission, and the child’s progress is updated on a daily basis. A treatment plan, specifically molded to address each child’s emotional, behavioral, mental and physical needs, is developed with the assistance of family, school and other service providers. A dedicated group of child psychiatrists along with nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers and therapists guides the child’s treatment during his or her stay. Before a child is discharged, a care plan providing informational and supportive services is developed to help the child and family.
Services include:
• 24-hour psychiatric care
• Medication evaluation
• Individual and family therapy
• Group therapy
• Behavior management support
• Case management
• Classroom instruction
• Parent education
