Over 80% of mothers today choose to breastfeed their child, taking advantage of numerous health and interpersonal benefits. To get breastfeeding off to the best start, your baby will be placed skin-to-skin on your chest after delivery and will remain there until after the first feeding is accomplished. During your stay with us, Memorial’s International Board Certified Lactation Consultants, in addition to Mother/Baby Care Center staff nurses, will provide individualized instruction to make breastfeeding a successful experience.
Lactation consultants are available seven days a week and are available for follow-up phone consultations. Should the need arise, return visits can be scheduled. We also offer additional services such as: prenatal breastfeeding classes, outpatient office appointments, a Breastfeeding Support Clinic, pump rentals, and purchasable supplies for personal use. To learn more, contact us at 574-647-3475.
The Breastfeeding Support Group is held each Monday and Thursday for new mothers and their babies. Starting April 1, 2014, sessions will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lactation Consultants are available to answer questions, weigh your baby and encourage you. Find support from other mothers and learn from their breastfeeding experiences in a relaxed environment.
The Breastfeeding Support Group is located at Memorial BrainWorks, 534 N. Michigan St., across from 100 Navarre Place. Signs are posted on the doors for your convenience.
