Region’s Only Pediatric Gastroenterologist Now Available

Memorial Children’s Hospital is proud to announce the arrival of the region’s only Pediatric Gastroenterologist, Wahaj Mustafa Zaidi, M.D. He will practice at Memorial Children’s Hospital’s Pediatric Specialties clinic, which also includes physicians specializing in: pediatric neurology, pediatric endocrinology, behavioral and developmental pediatrics, and pediatric pulmonology, infectious disease and sleep medicine.

FREE Head & Neck Cancer Screening

More than 52,000 men and women in the U.S. were expected to be diagnosed with head and neck cancers in 2011, according to the National Cancer Institute. Early detection is when treatment is most successful. To help find cancers as early as possible, Memorial Regional Cancer Center and Memorial’s Health Discovery Center will offer a free head and neck cancer screening.

Rose Named Director of Nutritional Services for Memorial Hospital of South Bend

Steven Rose has been named Director of Nutritional Services for Memorial Hospital of South Bend. Steven holds a B.A. in Business/Organizational Management from Bethel College and has extended studies in culinary preparation, sanitation, leadership, and nutrition from respected programs around the country. Steven most recently served on staff at Indiana University at South Bend and the University of Notre Dame.

Hand in Hand: Free Breast Exams and Prostate Exams for Couples

Memorial Health Discovery Center is offering a couples-only health screening Thursday, April 19 from 3 – 7 p.m. Women will undergo a free clinical breast exam. Men will undergo a free prostate exam, including a PSA blood test and a physical exam of the prostate. Challenge Your Brain Games Event Invites Individuals to Be Proactive About Brain Health

In celebration of National Brain Health Awareness Week, Memorial BrainWorks in partnership with Northern Indiana Alzheimer’s and Dementia Services is hosting a complementary Challenge Your Brain Games event on Saturday, March 17, 2012. Designed for people of all ages, participants can opt to play games or activities such as visual puzzles, memory games, and computer games as well as attend a brief expert presentation by Dr. Matthew Costello from IUSB on brain health, and pick up educational materials about healthy lifestyle choices.
