First and only Cancer Fitness program in Northern Indiana
Memorial Hospital believes in healthy living. That does not change with a cancer diagnosis. It is a proven fact that exercise, during and after cancer treatment, enhances recovery. Several recent reports suggest that staying active during and after cancer can lead to stronger survival. Moderate exercise (walking, biking, swimming) for about 30 minutes a day can:
- Reduce anxiety and depression
- Improve mood and boost self-esteem
- Reduce fatigue, nausea, pain and diarrhea
Inside the Memorial Regional Cancer Center's Complementary Services Suite is the Restorative Fitness Center. This program (the first and only of its kind in Northern Indiana) allows a cancer patient to meet with one of our specialists and develop an exercise program. The therapist will develop a plan and work with each patient while the person is undergoing treatments.
Every patient of Memorial Regional Cancer Center receives 12 free sessions in the Restorative Fitness Center.
