Massage Therapy

Therapeutic massage is an ancient form of healing, yet one of the most common modern complementary therapies for cancer.

Benefits of Massage Therapy

  • Decreased muscle tension
  • Decreased fatigue
  • Improved pain management
  • Decreased nausea
  • Alleviated stress, worry, mild depression
  • Improved sleep
  • Restored sense of peace

Massage also provides critical spiritual care benefits: helping restore a sense of peace and trust during your cancer treatment, allowing hope and a sense of purpose to remain strong. Thus, the hands-on techniques of modern therapeutic massage provide a crucial bridge between the physical body and the amazing healing power of the human spirit. Massages are provided with the individual carefully draped with a sheet or blanket to expose only the particular body area being worked on, such as the back or shoulders. In all cases, your comfort, privacy and control over the massage is paramount.

Memorial's Massage Therapy services are provided by four, highly qualified massage therapists. Each of these therapists have completed an Associates or Bachelor's degree, in addition to successful completion of an accredited massage therapy program.  All are certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, the American Massage Therapy Association and hold a St. Joseph County Health Department Massage Therapist permit.
