Our Commitment to Excellence

As cancer care continues to become more and more sophisticated, Memorial continues to rise to the challenge of providing state-of-the-art technology and services. Memorial Hospital of South Bend treats more cancer patients than any other facility in the Northern Indiana/Southern Michigan region. Read more. Modern cancer care has evolved into a highly functioning team approach, and is reflected in the extensive services that are dedicated to the care of each patient who passes through our doors. Most cancer patients require the services of surgeons, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists. In each of those areas, Memorial sets the standard.

  • Surgery -  More cancer surgery is performed here at Memorial than anywhere else in the region. This includes complex procedures, including pulmonary resections, neurosurgical procedures, complex intestinal surgery and da Vinci procedures.
  • Medical Oncology - The Memorial Regional Cancer Center has Medical Oncologists on staff from Michiana Hematology Oncology and the South Bend Clinic. Michiana Hematology Oncology also has a full patient office directly connected to the Memorial Regional Cancer Center here in South Bend.
  • Radiation Oncology - Memorial's Radiation Oncology Center is nationally accredited through the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) and employs all of today's advanced technology (Trilogy, IMRT/IGRT, Stereotactic Radiosurgery, Rapid Arc, HDR, prostate seed implants).

I hope you find this Web site informative and useful in your quest for information about cancer services. Should the need arise, you can take comfort in knowing that the Memorial Regional Cancer Center has the experience and know-how to care for you.

Sincerely,

George Friend, M.D.

George Friend, M.D., Physician Executive of Oncology Services
