Memorial Health & Lifestyle Center
Health
& Lifestyle Center FAQ sheet

What
does the Health & Lifestyle Center offer that other area fitness
centers don't?
The
Health & Lifestyle Center is a medically based fitness center
-- you'll benefit from the knowledge and experience of a clinically
trained staff of professionals. If you've gone through cardiac or
pulmonary rehabilitation or if you've completed physical therapy
and want to continue making gains in your health, the Health &
Lifestyle Center can tailor a program just for you.
Or, if you've never
had a fitness routine before, the Health & Lifestyle Center
staff can create one for you. Start with a Fitness Evaluation --
a baseline study of your strengths and weaknesses. Let our staff
formulate your individual cardiovascular and strength-building routine.
A personalized orientation and instruction on each piece of equipment
will give you the confidence you need to start a healthy fitness
habit.
What
are the credentials of the staff there?
The staff of the Health & Lifestyle Center are degreed fitness
professionals with specialized training in such areas as adult fitness,
fitness assessments and program development, exercise leadership,
biomechanics, and sports nutrition.
The Health &
Lifestyle Center also offers personal trainers who are certified
or are working toward certification through nationally recognized
certifying organizations.
I haven't exercised
in years. How do I know if I'm using the equipment correctly? How
do I know if I'm becoming more fit?
Only
the Health & Lifestyle Center has FitLinxx, a state-of-the-art,
computerized system to monitor your progress on cardiovascular and
strength-building equipment. Small touch-screens on each piece of
equipment will keep track of your sets and repetitions and will
monitor your range of motion. The system stores the information
from your workouts, providing you with a graphic profile of your
progress. The features of FitLinxx ensure you are getting the most
out of your fitness routine each time -- it's like having a personal
trainer with you during your workouts!
