The terms brain health, cognitive fitness, mind health, neural plasticity, and even neurogenesis, are becoming common because of exciting breakthroughs in science and research. Almost daily, explorations about why we age the way we do are beginning to reveal a very strong connection between how we take care of ourselves particularly, our brain, and our experience of aging. This research is also focused on why some people are more susceptible to the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia than others.
The good news for everyone is that the factors that influence how we will age and how sharp our minds will be as we get older, are mostly within our control. Most of the recommended behaviors for our brain health are things we know are good for us. Now, science is giving us a clearer understanding of the difference these behaviors can make for us in the long run for our quality of life.
